The Power of Animated Pictures

There are new ways to communicate messages available to us all the time, and many are very effective. So why choose an animated sketch video? To me, the answer is simple. It’s a fun, engaging, and cost-effective way to communicate a whole lot of information in a short amount of time. Done well, a sketch video will maximize the use of the script and the pictures so that while you listen to the narrator, you’re seeing even more than what’s being said. And SEEING is remembering.

John Medina, author of Brain Rules puts it this way: If information is presented orally, people remember about 10% (tested 72 hours later) That figure goes up to 65% if you add a picture! "

There are many ways to use sketch videos:

  • explainer videos
  • web ads and tv commercials
  • website landing pages
  • internal corporate communications
  • social media campaigns

The International School of Beijing recently hired my team to create an explainer video promoting their Futures Academy. We worked with them from concept to script writing to final execution. They gave us a ton of creative freedom in how we both TOLD and SHOWED their story, which made for a very fun collaboration and a result we’re all thrilled with.
