Spring conference season is well underway and so is all of the overwhelm that can go along with it.  I love a good stress management tip and after graphic recording a keynote by Dr. Arin Reeves, I have a new favorite.

Dr. Reeves was speaking to an audience at a DEI conference where all attendees were diverse individuals who have to navigate their differences every day.  This takes and drains energy.

When we're triggered and have feelings of anger, our fight-or flight stress response causes cortisol levels to spike in our brains.  If we don't release this chemical the anger will fester and come out in unproductive ways.

Here are three strategies to shift your neurological energy and use up your body's fighting chemicals:

  1. Kick or hit a punching bag, dance, run, jump rope.... just move.

  2. Scream for two solid minutes.

  3. Curse for two solid minutes.

So the next time you hang up from an annoying call, go ahead and scream about it. Then enjoy the rest of your day.

All the best for a fun and productive spring!
