What happens when healthcare leaders play Chutes and Ladders? They see inequity in a whole new way.
I recently had the privilege of graphic recording a session for a healthcare client where attendees got into small groups and played the childhood classic. But this game wasn’t about winning. It was about seeing how some players were able to climb ladders quickly while others never had the chance to climb at all.
The game made visible what too many patients experience: where you start, and what you’re handed along the way, shapes how far you can get.
Turning insight into action.
Then came the part I love most. Each group reflected on what they could do, in their own roles, to build more ladders and fewer chutes. Their report-out was full of honest, practical ideas, and I captured it all in the illustration below.
Live illustration of group reflections.
Why seeing the system matters.
Graphic recording does something meeting notes can’t. It puts the whole conversation on the wall, so people can see their ideas next to everyone else’s and spot the patterns. That’s what makes it such a powerful tool for conferences, leadership retreats, and community engagement sessions.
Do you want to make your audience’s ideas visible at your next event? Let’s talk about graphic recording.
