Sketch Notes from SCBWI in LA

I recently attended the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) 3-day conference in LA.   I attended because the first book in a series that I co-created and illustrated, Dorothy's Derby Chronicles: Rise of the Undead Redhead,  just came out on July 1st. So it was really fun to attend the conference and find out what the latest trends are in the children's book industry.  There were some amazing speakers at the conference, including the author of the Judy Moody series, Megan McDonald.

Since I went to the conference as an attendee, and not as a graphic recorder, I didn't graphic record the speakers on large paper like I usually do. Instead I did sketch notes on 11" x 17" paper which I managed easily on my lap.

There were terrific panels that included agents and editors, as well as amazing keynote speakers. It was such a treat because (no surprise) they were all great story tellers, which made them SO fun to capture!
